Michael Joseph S. Diño is a nurse educator and researcher who is passionate about using technology to improve the quality of healthcare. He was one of the top 10 finalist for the recently concluded 2023 Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award and is also a doctoral student at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.
Dr. Diño graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) in the Philippines in 2003. He then earned his Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) degree from OLFU in 2005 and his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Development Studies from the Royal and Pontifical University of Sto. Tomas in 2011.
Dr. Diño’s research interests include the use of technology in nursing education and practice, telehealth, and nursing leadership. He has published numerous research papers in local and international journals. He is also a frequent speaker at local and international conferences. Dr. Diño is a recipient of numerous awards and recognitions, including the Most Outstanding Alumni of OLFU (2009), the Apple Distinguished Educator (2015), and the Emerging Nurse Researcher Award from Sigma Nursing (2019). He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) and the Philippine Nurses Association (PNAN).
Dr. Diño is a passionate advocate for the use of technology to improve the quality of healthcare. He believes that technology can be used to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and efficient. He is also committed to promoting nursing research and evidence-based practice.
Dr. Diño is a role model for nurses and educators around the world. He is a dedicated and accomplished professional who is making a significant contribution to the field of nursing. Here are some of his notable achievements: Developed a telehealth program for seniors that improved health literacy among older adults in 2012. Led a project that improved care and restoration of infants through the use of breastfeeding and breastmilk banking (CRIB3) in 2018. Developed a multimedia project on #VaccineEquity (with support from the International Council of Nurses) that was deployed in various regions and countries during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Diño recently completed his PhD in Nursing at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in 2024. His groundbreaking research focused on the integration of artificial intelligence in nursing education. As a visionary leader, Dr. Diño continues to inspire nurses and healthcare professionals worldwide through his innovative skills and expertise. He is a post-doctoral scholar in the University of Central Florida.
